Greetings warriors! The following text document contains all of the messages that have been posted in the Warriors Guild folder from September 1, 1994 to January 7, 1995. Since the Grand Admiral has been busy of late, I will log and upload future messages of the Warrior's Guild.
The Warriors Guild welcomes new members and pertinent posts. Located in the "Flight Sim Resource Center" in the PC Games area, the Guild folders contain fiction, hints, club business and more. The Guild has been highly successful. In addition to many members and a multitude of posts, literally dozens of files, unavailable on AOL, have been exchanged among the members. If you find these posts to be of interest and you'd like to join the Warriors Guild, e-mail me, DavidC8169, Highlan332 or XWAce.
If you'll e-mail me your game, I should be able to get through that mission
for you. I've made it through in a loaded Centurion and in a semi-loaded
Galaxy.
It is refreshing to see some chatter about something besides tie-fighter. I
almost thought that the WG had been renamed to TieGuild!
Has anyone besides Highlander played Subwar 2050? I'm debating wether or not
to buy it.

The better graphics in TIE will cause you to lose the smoothness that you
have in Xwing. Just turn down some of the detail settings, and you should be
fine.

Tie Fighter is by far the best game Ive ever played for any computer or Game
System. The only game which i think is more fun would have to be the original
Star Wars game with tthe green graphics annd the Death Star Trench Run. Has
any one seen it lately? I sure havent. CG Awards are coming tonight Sept 1 ,

From: WhiteJedi
The Flight Simulator Forum on Compuserve is sponsoring the first online XWing
Competition. Players will play in a 7 mission custom designed TOD. The
missions start from medium level and will end up (the staff claims) with a
nearly impossible mission. There is a file in the library that explains the
rules and how to play.
Prizes include free CIS credit and Star Wars artwork autographed by Timothy
Zahn.
The first mission wasn't too bad, but it looks like it's going to be as tough
as IP was.

From: Highlan332
Boran (Jedi 007)- "...How abouts we just send the Admiral a SASE and two disks? That way is probably the most cost effective..."
That will be acceptable Chief- under certain conditions. If you want to
send SASE's and disks, you must send enough for at least FOUR issues in
advance. That means 4 SASE's and 8 disks. As I have said before, I am not
going to spend several hours every month counting money and trying to keep
track of who has and hasn't paid. The same with SASE's and disks. I'm not
going to wait until the last minute each time to see if a member's SASE and
disks comes in just so that I can send it right back out. If you send them
in advance, I will always have a supply ready when I need to get the issue
mailed out.
So, as long as you send at least four issue's worth at a time, that's OK
with me. I can buy disks in bulk, however, so I don't think you'll save
anything. Also, postage is more than it is for a letter, so keep that in
mind. Thanks.

Subj: Recruitment Posts for Other Club
Date: 94-09-02 17:38:11 EDT
From: Highlan332
Chief Ben Iblis (Byteman58)- "...Wind Wing.. Sorry Grand Admiral but we are
just starting and need members. Does this count as a recruitment post?..."
The issue of posting recruiting messages for other clubs needs to be
addressed, since a few have popped up here. It's OK to post an OCCASIONAL
message here to recruit for another club, just don't do it too often. If you
do, you'll hear from me. There has already been enough material regarding
the Rebel Squadrons (Storm and Wind Wing) to last for some time.
Next, NO these messages do not count for recruiting posts. In fact,
they do not count as posts at all. That means you get no points for them and
they don't count as your weekly post requirement. Come on, you know (if you
read the guidelines) that posts must be related to THIS club to gain points.
Material for other clubs may help you there but not here.
Lastly, do not sign your posts with a rank from some other club. Ben
Iblis, for example, is a chief in this club, yet he signed off as admiral.
We do not recognize ranks gained in other clubs, you are only rewarded for
your work here. I don't mean to pick on Ben Iblis, he is just a good
example.
So, follow the restrictions I have mentioned and we won't have any
problems with outside recruiting posts. Thanks for your time.

"...This is a monumental achievement with any software..."
Thanks you very much XWAce! It is very gratifying to hear from someone
who truly understands how much effort I put into the newsletter to get all of
the finishing touches just right. Things such as sound, 256-color pictures,
icons and floating menus all required many extra hours of effort just to give
War Cry a truly polished look.
Several people have asked what software I used to create the newsletter.
I used several programs including Doc-To-Help, the Help Authoring Guide,
Minihelp Plus and the Microsoft Windows Programmer's Guide. As I have said
before, there are many help authoring programs available on AOL. As XWAce
will attest, however, writing Help files is not easy. So, once ,ore, thanks

Does anyone have this really old game called Star Wars for their computer.
It has about three colors and those are all lines but the action is faster
than rebel asault. It is alot like RA too. There are only about three main
levels (tie shooting, laser tower shooting, and the trench run), but the
levels get harder every time and keep going on for what seems like forever.
It is a great game even with it's lack of graphics and i think it's one of
the fastest paced games i've ever played. If anyone has this oldy tell me.
It was made in 1983 i think (or 87) but it's still pretty cool. Tell me if
you have it and we can compare scores and stuff.

Fellow Warriors,
I have been a bit remiss in my posting, due to a hard drive crash. I am
just now, getting things back in some semblance of order. Now......
Welcome, new members. You have joined a very diverse group, active
in many different areas of the sci-fi sim field. If you have a problem,
question or comment about any of the games that we discuss, feel free to post them.
Someone will give you a hand.
Concerning the effort to get the WG 'announced' publicly......I've been
off line for about 2 weeks (give or take a day) and, upon signing back on,
have heard nothing from PC Roger or PC Sylva. PC Sylva said she was turning it
over to PC Roger, so now that I am back on line, I will continue with my "polite
pestering" of PC Roger. I realize that the folks who have the job of
organizing these club message boards are very busy, so I will start, slowly, with Roger and work my way up, from there.
As to the survey of times on line, etc, most of my files were destroyed, in
that area, but I do have a backup, so those of you who haven't sent me your
responses, please do. If nothing else, let me know what times you can come on
line. This will help if anyone would like to have more on line chats with fellow
members. E-mail JunglSnipr with your responses. They will be compiled and sent to the
Grand Admiral......then we will have some idea when everyone, or most everyone, is
available and a chat room can be created at a time when more of us can join in the
chat.
To the Scribes.......keep up the fine work, Warriors. I have been following
several of your stories and find myself waiting for the next episode. Those
of you, who are writing stories, using a character from "established" stories, ought
to contact a publisher, find out what the copyright laws are, and see if you can't
get them published.

Have you gone to Rygannon and done the missions for Taryn Cross yet? You
have to do the Exploratory Service thing to find the Derilict Steltek ship
and get the Steltek gun. Then, after that, there's a bit of a delay until
you go see Admiral Terrell.......go to a mining base in the Clarke quadrant
and visit the bar.....you should meet Capt. Goodwin, and she'll tell you that
the Admiral wants to see you. Then go to Perry and do the missions for
Terrell. On your way to the 'ambush' you'll find the way to destroy the
Alien pod.........don't go "blasting" by any odd ships that you see.......

Hey pal don't worry, it will come out soon please don't loose your mind
like most people do. I called Activision and they said it will come out in
October! But don't get your hopes up. Ignore all those crazy postings
everywhere because it's probably not true. Where did you get the demo?
because last I heard COMP USA is getting it on the 15th of SEP. How do you
like the first I play it to my lance has full B-Masers!! I have 4 B-Masters,
2 Marauders, 2 Warhammers, and I have enough money to buy 64 locusts! But
every time I get enough fire power to get the chalise someone already has! I
think it would be cool if AOL made a Battletech online useing MechWarrior2's
via modem play! AOL could make the proper arrangments and we could have a
Battletech online. AOL could have Activision's programers make it so it could
use AOL's multi player ability. We could have many battles going on at once.
We (TWG) could form teams (like lances or stars). And maybe one or two
battles could be free for all every man or women for themselves! cool huh?

The demo is pretty good but it is sort of limited like the tie fighter

missions. I got it from a pc games expo in chicago when i was visiting my

brings your speed up to around 145. It really makes it alot easier to make
capital ship runs and get out alive. Also, the secert order: You have to
complete secondary goals to advance in the order. I think bonus goals help
out too but I'm not sure.

I agree. The tractor beam seems less than useless. You only get it when
you're in the T/A or T/D and the only ship you should have a problem with in
either one of those is an enemy T/A, which the tractor beam doesn't really do
too much to. Wouldn't it have been nice if the tractor beam caused them to
level out and fly straight for a few seconds....

They also have one of the "Battlepod" centers in Chicago, that was the first
one if I remember, plus they take pods like that to the larger conventions
(GenCon, WorldCon, etc.) The thing being, it's not only Battletech, they
also have a Harrier sim at the one in CA, plus a few others. Also, if
FASA(the role playing people) liscensed both Activision and the Battlepod
centers to create their own Battletech software, I don't think there would be
a problem. I'm just waiting for MW2 on CD-ROM, I'm running out of HD space

Hate to do this, Edvardo, but someone already has the rights to Online
Battletech. General Electric's service, GEnie, already has it, using the
game engine from the original Mechwarrior. When MW2 comes out, they'll
probably jump all over it. If you like modem games, look for one called
Megatron. It's a Battletech type game, you only get to choose between two
'Mechs, but it is modem capable for two players.

like game in the Star wars world. Kudos to lucasArts for giving me and
thousands of others what they wanted all along. Let's get some chat going on

Now for something else: I think it's kind of ironic how Mark Hamill (luke

weird, but cool.

Just got this one today. Which brings my total up to 6 (not counting the
X-Wing add-ons). It's pretty good. Faster than Tie Fighter. The plot is
closely related to Shadowrun and Tek War. Basically, you fly around other
corporate virtual matrices recording information, destroying ICE and other
targets. But unlike TIE Fighter, you can customize your own ship. Weapons
include lasers, torpedoes, tachyon cannons, gamma beams, and some others. Of
course there's the RAM Scoop, D-Rez shield, and EnerGen also. Plus the
different armor and engine types. Well, I like it.

guild is here for every member, and each member has different intrests.
If a member doesn't like the folder...don't use it.

I have done alot of on-line games with Armada. If you have a 14,400 then your
sitting pretty. The modem play is easy. The only problem is that the person
your playing must have the same baud rate or the lowest wins. In other words,
if you have a 14,400 and the person you are going to play has a 2400, then
the game is played at 2400. I have actually played at 2400, and the game is still good. The only problem I had was tha occasional choppy movement, but nothing major.
I recommend it. I got the CD version which saves about 21 megs of space on
the old hard drive.

A lot of people have been talking about X-Com, Outpost, and other CD

for fun.) But is it worth it to get a CD-ROM drive? Answers might include:
cost, any problems you've had, and if it's "useful." (A modem wouldn't be
useful if you bought it for $10,000 and used it once before it broke down.)

I have the CD-ROM, not the Gold Edition one, but the regular. There is
speech for all the briefings. The sounds are a lot more realistic and the
new polygon engine makes the game more enjoyable. There are also six new
historical combat missions. The CD also has new missions for about 15 other
TOD missions. These are missions that users told LucasArts were too hard in
the original. You can choose the play the New, easier missions or the
Classic ones from the original game. I have gone through the original X-Wing

As to all the questions out there about cd-rom --YES BUY IT!!!! The Games are

a wonderful tool to understand everything in this reality.
also if you are really into games the thrustmaster joystick and weapons
control system is a must. 90% of the games out there now, support it and if
they dont it is simple to make a adv. file to download... It is just like
they say in there brochure "once you fly the hotus system you will never
believe how you did with out it"" Plus thrustmaster has given me total
support. Also I have just finished a game called Star Crusader and It is as

I agree with the fact that doom books would be cool, it would add to the
storyline a little, (maybe hell returns? or the icon comes back? rebuilding
earth?) As for a movie, that has to be the worst movie idea i've ever heard.
For one thing, how ould they make the plot? Still, there have been dumber
ideas for movies(collision of the planets, for example). As to X-WIng GOLD
CD, I might buy it for christmas, it's either that or Earth Siege.
